      -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"A large number of people met at the residence of William H. Eves, corner of Twelfth Street and Edgmont Avenue, and prepared for a descent upon the home of a neighbor. At the same time a company of ladies and gentlemen met at the home of Miss Marie Evans, 128 Kerlin Street. Both companies met subsequently and surprised Miss Jennie P. Culbert, daughter of John S. Culbert, residing at 317 East Tenth Street. It was her twenty-first birthday anniversary and friends were there to celebrate the event from Philadelphia, Chester, Wilmington and other places. A number of beautiful gifts were given to the hostess. An enjoyable evening was passed by everybody, and about midnight the friends separated."
