  • Notes
    • According to granddaughter, Jeanne Culbert, author of the manuscript, "Notes sur la famille Culbert", as reported by Johanne Quesnel Colbert, Robert's two daughters, Jessie and Jane, stayed with their maternal grandparents in England and that they later visited the boys in Canada. The girls were Protestants and the boys were Catholics (they had their baptism certificates attached to their clothes when they arrived at Grosse-Ile). Robert's wife, Catherine, died before the boys and Robert left for Canada.
    • Documenting the search for Robert's marriage record by Johanne Q. Colbert: Robert was a soldier in the British Army and the index list of the marriage was in the army’s documents. She wrote to the archivist (Lisa Russell) of the Diocese of Ontario (The Anglican Church of Canada) to find out if they had any mariage certificate but they did not find anyone of that name. Most of the soldiers and officers at Fort Henry (Kingston, Ontario) were married at St.George’s Church in Kingston. The archivist also researched the other churches in Ontario but didn’t find anything. Needs to try the Diocese of Quebec and Montreal. Another possibility are Chaplains' records of the soldiers of Robert’s regiment in that time period held at the National Archives in the UK. There is a LDS file, and she’ll have to go to the LDS Church here in Mont-Saint-Hilaire.
