  • Notes
    • On Wednesday, the 12th inst., a truly gratifying circumstance took place on the farm of Mr. Jacob Culbert, of Ballinderry.  Mr. Culbert having lately purchased a farm, adjoining the old one held by him at Ballymaclose, the farmers of the surrounding district, wishing to testify their esteem to him, assembled at an early hour, to the amount of 30 ploughs, and in a truly workmanlike manner ploughed nearly 25 acres ere night.  At one o'clock the ploughmen were entertained at an excellent and substantial dinner in the farm-house of Ballymaclose, and at the conclusion they were also regaled with bread, cheese, and beer.  The whole proceedings passed off in a peaceable and orderly manner, and the work was performed in such a manner as to reflect the highest credit on those to whom the ploughs belonged.  Mr. Culbert, in addition to the farm in question, holds nearly 100 acres of land in Ballinderry, and it is truly gratifying to witness such an instance of esteem as that shown him on the present occasion.
