- BEGGS - Culbert, James, 67, telephone lineman and manager, died Jan. 22. Services 2 p.m. Jan. 25, First Baptist Church (McClendon-Winters, Beggs).
- James Newton Culbert passed away peacefully, surrounded by those who loved him deeply, January 22, 2013. James was born on 14th of February, 1945, in Dekalb County Alabama to Barney and Velma Culbert. At the age of 7 he and his family moved to Beggs Ok. He married Connie Gail Titsworth of Beggs on the 15th of February 1966. James and Connie lived in Tulsa and had their first son Shaun in 1967. Then in 1970 Joseph was also born in Tulsa. He worked for McDonald Douglas in Tulsa before moving the family to Denver Colorado. James worked at Mountain Bell Telephone Company for 25 years. He retired from there and moved back to Oklahoma were he spent the last 17 years, working part time on the family farm and was a manager for H&R Block. He is survived by his wife, Connie Gail (Titsworth) Culbert, his two sons, Shaun Michael Culbert and Shannon of Beggs, Joseph Douglas Culbert and wife, Shannon of Broomfield Colorado. Grandchildren Kayleigh, Cassie, Kristin, Jennifer, Lyndzey, Kelsey, Abbey, Levi. Sisters Velma Faye Allen, Wanda Gay Brown, Carla Susan Bryan and husband James Bryan. Brother in laws, Tobie Titsworth III and wife Jeanne, Roger Titsworth and wife Chris. Sister in law Sammye Culbert, Clydene Paquette and Darryl Skytta. Numerous nieces nephews and family members. He is preceded in death by his parents Barney and Velma Culbert, sisters Lena Merle(Culbert) Puckett, Ina Pearl Culbert, brothers Albert Barney Culbert, Samuel Steven (Bill) Culbert, Daniel H. Culbert. In-Laws Richard and Edith Titsworth. The family request contributions be made to OMRF for Cancer Research or the Oklahoma Baptist Children's Home. A memorial service was held on Friday, January 25, 2013 at 2:00 P.M. at the First Baptist Church in Beggs.
