- Gary L. Stohl, 68, of Fremont, Ohio, passed away Saturday, Sept. 10, 2022, at Stein Hospice, Sandusky, after a hard-fought battle with chronic kidney disease. Gary was born April 17, 1954, in Fremont, Ohio, to the late Naomi Louise Leonard and Fred Stohl. He married Tammy (Troike) Stohl on July 30, 1994, in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, in a small ceremony with his children as witnesses. Gary graduated from Clyde High School in 1972. He was employed by Moore Business Forms, The Ohio Turnpike, and Sonoco Products in Tiffin, as an electrician until his retirement in 2015. Gary enjoyed SciFi and history shows and movies. He was an avid race fan, spending many weekends traveling to see sprint car races with his wife, children, and eventually grandchildren. Gary also enjoyed hunting woodchucks on his father's (and now brother's) farm in Green Springs. He will be lovingly remembered for his strong work ethic, his devotion to providing a legacy for his children, spoiling his granddaughters, his sarcasm, and of course, his stubbornness. Survivors include his three children, April VanNess and Ryan (Carrie) Stohl of Fremont, and Rebecca (Ryan) MacLean of Seattle, Washington; granddaughters, Ava VanNess and Kennedi Stohl; grandson, Kody Culbert; and siblings, Don Stohl of Fremont, Connie (Jack) Smith of Lindsey, and Randy (Lisa) Stohl of Green Springs. He was preceded in death by his wife, Tammy Stohl; parents; and mother-in-law and father-in-law, Sally (Hunsinger) and James Troike. Visitation will take place 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 15, 2022, at Hanneman Keller Funeral Home, 416 S. Arch Street, Fremont. Gary's funeral will be 1 p.m. Thursday with Pastor Forrest Kirchenbauer officiating. Burial will follow at McGormley Cemetery, Ballville Township.
