- Eve Zvorsky Rizzardi, born Oct. 29, 1928, passed away peacefully Nov. 21, 2021, at the age of 93. Eve was predeceased by her beloved husband, Charles John Rizzardi; her parents, Frank and Bertha Zvorsky; all of her 14 brothers and sisters, including her twin, Adam Zvorsky, Anna Culbert, Frank Zvorsky, Helen Strohl, Mary Whalen, John Zvorsky, George Zvorsky, Bertha Messina, Charles Zvorsky, Alice Rizzardi, Joseph Zvorsky, Stephen Zvorsky, Irene Zvorsky and Michael Zvorsky; and her lifelong friend, Helen Yurenko Thomas. Eve is survived by her four children, Barbara Rizzardi, Alice Nealis Rizzardi, Stephanie Rizzardi and Charles A. Rizzardi; 10 grandchildren, Matthew Mimnaugh, Charlie Mimnaugh, Katie Mimnaugh, Brian Nealis, Becca Histed, Victor Rizzardi, Joe Rizzardi, Ian Pearson, Anna Pearson and Natalie Pearson. Eve was born and raised on the Zvorsky farm in Orwigsburg. She and Charlie married May 26, 1952, in Pottsville, and spent most of their married life in Las Vegas, Nev., where they raised their four children. She took great pride in her upbringing and wholesome lifestyle. Eve was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, and her proudest achievement was the well-being and success of her family. Raised during the great depression years, she espoused hard work, education and a belief that you could do anything you set your mind to. Her constant reminder to her children and grandchildren was to "do good and good will come to you." Eve created a welcoming home for her family and friends. She loved to play Scrabble, Yatzhee and do jigsaw puzzles with her children and grandchildren. Always free with loving motherly advice whether you asked for it or not, home cooked meals and offers of assistance, Eve was a go-to mom in the neighborhood on Austin Street. She and Charlie created a second home for anyone who needed extra love and attention. During her many years as a parishioner at Our Lady of Las Vegas Catholic Church, she volunteered to help cook meals for the parish priests, clean the altar and assist in teaching religion classes to children. She was a wonderful cook, having learned to cook Charlie's favorite Italian dishes from her mother-in-law, Louise Rizzardi, but there was no doubt amongst her children and grandchildren that she made the best halupkis ever! Funeral services will take place at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 7, 2022, at Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Roman Catholic Church, Las Vegas, Nev.
