Cullen is listed as head of household.  The house is located at Langston, Route 1 and the highway is the Langston-Guntersville Road.  He attended Mt. Moriah elementary school, High School attended was Guntersville, Church was Mt. Moriah Methodist, Local store was peddler and nearest trade center was Guntersville.   He has lived at current residence for 8 years and in the community all of his life.

He owns the six room house, three are sleeping rooms, the house is 8 years old, one story, no basement, material is box.  Wood burning fireplace provides the heat and the lighting is kerosene.  No telephone.  The bathing facility is a creek.  The house is not painted and is in good condition, there is a barn and a crib.  There is also an empty dwelling house with no tenants. There is a well, ten yards from the house.

Toilet facilities are outside.   No cases of malaria.  The family owns an 8 year old Buick which they have had for two years.  They also have a piano, sewing machine but no other appliances.  Furniture is valued at $300 and is in fair condition.  He owes $50 in open accounts and owes $200 in "other" that is not specified.  He does not have any insurance.   He is single and is white.  He is 24 years old and born in Marshall County, Alabama.  Highest grade of school was 7th grade and he has no defects.  He is a farmer and a Methodist. 

Cullen owns 80 acres, 58 are in crops, 10 "other" and 12 in woodland.  Two acres are rented out.  [Surveyor's note: 20 acres back of the home farm, 19 acres on (unreadable), all in Marshall County belongs to Mother, Mrs. Oma Culbert, forty acres of 80 acre home farm belongs to Mother.]   This is for a total of 119 acres.  Five acres of this is rented to Buster Johnson, a tenant, who is not related. Culllen's father also was a land owner, not a tenant.

In 1935, 25 acres of corn, 9 of cotton, 7 in hay, 1 in cane, and 1 other were planted for a total of 43 acres.
In 1936, 30 acres of corn, 14 of cotton, 7 in hay, 1 in cane and 1 other were planted for a total of 53 acres.  The "other" was noted to be peanuts. 

Livestock were 2 mules valued at $500, 1 cow at $25, 3 hogs @ $30, 60 poultry @$30 for a total value of  $585.  Farm machinery was 1 wagon at $50, 1 turning plow at $10, 1 cultivator @ $75, 1 section harrow at $10, 1 planter at $1 for a total of $146.  He had small tools worth $20 and 2 harness for $25.  Total of all was $191.  

Expenditures were livestock and poultry for $425, farm implements and machinery for $120.50, farm labor $50, fertilizer $40, seeds for $10, ginning $16, taxes were $27.50 for a total of $143.50.    Receipts were $15 for corn, $260 for cotton, $30 for AAA parity and rental checks, $15 for poultry products for a total of $320.   This left a total net cash income of $176.50.

Produced and consumed by the family in 1935:  150 pounds of butter @ $30, 400 gallons of milk @ $60, 26 dozens of eggs @ $3.90, 600 pounds of pork, dressed @ $60, 60 poultry @ $30, 18 bushels of corn @ $14, 3 bushels of peas and beans @ $6, 2 bushels of peaches @ $1.  They had a one-half acre garden that produced 12 bushels of irish potatoes @ $18, 10 bushels of sweet potatoes @ $10, 25 pounds of honey @ $2.50, 12 cords of wood at $4.00.   Total value was $284.40 and added to the net income of $176.50 gave the family a balance of $461.   

Cullen did not receive any relief and has no children.  His Mother and sister live with him but are not listed by name.  However in response to the question of any family member owning land that will probably be purchased by TVA, listed is his Mother, Mrs. Oma Culbert.  They have not selected a new location but will buy and they have $1000 to invest in a farm.  He responded to the interview with interest and was neutral in attitude to TVA.  He prefers to remain on his farm if a road is built.
